Former Ghana international winger Yaw Preko has expressed surprised at Avram Grant’s decision to include USA-based defender Samuel Inkoom in his squad for the 2015 AFCON tournament.
Preko, who is an assistant trainer for Ghana U20 side – Black Satellites, says he is surprised by Inkoom’s inactivity at club level yet his inclusion in the Ghana squad.
Inkoom, 25, was named in a provisional 31-man squad named by Ghana head coach Grant and has dodged the axe as he has made the cut for a 26-man squad which would be pruned down to 23 on Wednesday.
And, this surprises Preko.
“Samuel Inkoom’s inclusion is a bit surprising to me. I don’t often talk about players, but I don’t remember the last time Samuel Inkoom played for his club.”
Preko’s view has been echoed by a section of the Ghana fans who feel the former Asante Kotoko defender has not been active.
Inkoom’s whose reported move to Houston Dynamo has fallen through managed just 71 league minutes in the American Major League Soccer since he moved there in September.
DC United played 12 games throughout the period Inkoom joined them, culminating in 1080 minutes but he managed just 71 minutes.
