Rapper Sarkodie has made his debut on the Billboard Social 50 list. The artiste, on Thursday, April 16, appeared on the chart at number 48.
He comes after Rihanna who is at 46 and 5 Seconds of Summer at 47. However, he beat American rapper Gucci Mane and Brazillian singer Anitta to claim the 48th position.
Sarkodie has become one of the few African artistes to make it on the chart since it was launched in December 2010.

His appearance on the chart may not have come as a surprise to many, mainly because, he has been more active and interactive with followers on social media in the last two years.

With about 8.1 million followers across his social media platforms, Sarkodie, over the years has found creative ways to get fans involved in his craft and music in general.
The most recent being the BehindTheHitz program which featured DJ’s battling each other to entertain fans while they are on lockdown.
Hence for many followers, it’s a given, their favourite artiste has appeared on a Billboard chart that seeks to rank the most active musical artists on the world’s leading social networking services.

Its data, published by Billboard magazine and compiled by Next Big Sound, is based collectively on each artiste’s weekly additions of friends, fans and followers, along with artiste's website views and streaming media.
