An average of 150 persons were seen daily by the 3-man dental specialists from the UK with assistance from 2 local dentist on the second day. The benefactors included pupils and students, health workers, adults, civil and public servants, and security personnel. The 3-day outreach covered dental and oral education, tooth extractions, treatment of gum diseases, scaling and polishing among others.
Dr. George Brown stated that “the dental outreach seeks to provide quality dental care to underprivileged Ghanaians and specifically seek to offer primary care services whilst providing dental and health education that emphasizes more on prevention”.
Dr. Malcom Farr expressed concern about Ghana’s alarming dentist-to-patient ratio and suggested the need for more training and innovation to grow the number of dentists in the country to help curb the prevailing rate of dental related issues.

Dr. Chris Vondee, described the free dental screening exercise as “a more fulfilling and healthier way of giving back to society whilst impacting the lives of people, especially those in the remote parts of Ghana”.
Smile4Ghana in partnership with Jonmoore International and its affiliate partners look forward to providing the annual dental outreach to underprivileged communities in Ghana.
