Winneba Soccer Intellectuals on Saturday beat Cape Coast Friends Babies 5-4 on penalties to lift the ultimate trophy in the finals of the Under 17
Coca Cola Soccer Championship in Cape Coast.
They received GH¢400.00 and Coca Cola products from management of Coca Cola,
sponsors of the tournament, in addition to the ultimate trophy.
The runners-up, Friends Babies had GH¢350.00 plus Coca Cola products while Oguaa
United who placed third took home GH¢300.00.
Mr Matthew Doe, Chairman of the Central Region Football Association, who presented
the trophy to the winners, congratulated the playing body of Soccer Intellectuals for
emerging champions and advised them to train harder towards the Regional Championship in Accra in May.
The Chairman commended Coca Cola Ghana, for sponsoring the tournament and said the package had helped to resurrect colts football which collapsed in the country for about 10 years, following the withdrawal of Nestle Ghana's sponsorship.
Mr Doe appealed to management of the company to continue with the sponsorship to help sustain juvenile football in the country.
