The 6th floor of the Korle Bu Surgical Unit has undergone a transformative refurbishment bringing it up to modern standards and making it a conducive environment for the rejuvenation and healing of patients.

The entire refurbishment was undertaken by Societe Generale Ghana PLC as part of activities to mark the bank’s 20th-anniversary celebration. The project was a manifestation of the anniversary theme “20 years with You”, a testament to the bank’s commitment to customers and the Ghanaian society at large.

The renovation works which took five weeks, covered a new bulkhead ceiling for the reception and lounge of the surgical block, retiling of washrooms and reception area replacement of all water closets and wash hand basins, retiling the reception area, renovation of offices and wards.

Additionally, there were installations of a fire alarm system, wireless nurse call system, air conditioners in all wards and offices, and supply of new furniture for wards, offices, reception, and lounge.

In an impressive handing-over ceremony which was graced by George Wega, Societe Generale Group’s Deputy Head of International Retail Banking for Africa, Mediterranean and Overseas (AFMO), the Managing Director of Societe Generale Ghana, Hakim Ouzzani, expressed the bank’s joy to be able to support Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

He reemphasized the banks’ obligation to support the community through its social responsibility.

“Thank you for what you do every day for the Ghanaian population and thank you for what you do to make the country better, we are proud to be with you as we celebrate our 20th anniversary.”

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of KBTH, Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah, was extremely grateful for Societe Generale’s support.

He noted that Korle Bu was the hospital of last resort for many Ghanaians and needed to be in optimum condition to meet the demands of the Ghanaian populace.

He mentioned Korle Bu was on the threshold of celebrating its 100th anniversary and looked forward for more organizations adopting projects in the hospital as part of their anniversary celebrations.

He was positive the renovated floor would lead to more better healthcare delivery for the unit and lauded Societe Generale Bank for being aligned with the needs of society.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is important to the bank's operations because the community is its focus.

At SG Ghana, CSR means Care, Share, and Respect, and this initiative follows this DND. The bank is optimistic that this rehabilitation project would enhance and sustain health care delivery in Ghana.
