Minister of Youth and Sports, Ms Akua Sena Dansua has congratulated the national Under-17 male hockey team for their maiden qualification for the Hockey Olympic qualifiers in East London, South Africa.
Ms Dansua said "your last match against the much fancied Egyptian side
showed your great determination, never to be cowed by any competitor but rather to make a name for yourself and Ghana".
The Minister who sent the congratulatory statement issued on her behalf by Mr Kofi Aggrey, Public Relations Manager of the Ministry described the performance of the team as sensational and refreshing.
The statement added that the ministry had followed the exploits of both the male and female teams in the competition and believes the team deserves the honour.
Ms Dansua urged the team to go into the finals of the competition on
Saturday with the same tenacity of purpose and to ensure that Ghana's
reputation in sports is sustained in international competitions at all
levels.
"It is time for you young lads to prove that the 4-1 win over the
Egyptians did not come as a mere chance, but work even harder to triumph over South Africa on their home ground". It added.
