Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif has expressed his displeasure with the Ghana Amputee Football team, the Black Challenge, for accepting donations from external entities before meeting with him.
His criticism comes after the team, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, received $10,000 as an appreciation token for winning back-to-back AFCON titles from former President John Mahama, who is an aspiring presidential candidate on the ticket of the New Democratic Congress (NDC) for this year's election.
Mustapha Ussif believes the team should have coordinated through his office first.
"When you come after the successes and there's anything, the first point of call is this office [MoYS]. We're not going to tolerate you using the state for your personal benefits," the Minister said.
He also added: "Unlike last year, this time when you landed and you came here directly, this year you started going from one place to another without any records to the government who sponsored you, and that cannot be tolerated."
The Ghana Amputee National Football team, The Black Challenge, beat Morocco in the final to win the AFCON title for the second time in a row.
