Sulley Muntari and Asamoah Gyan are set to be compensated by the Sports Ministry after their items were stolen from their hotel rooms while playing against Lesotho in a 2o14 World Cup qualifier last month.
The Ghana Sports Newspaper has reported that the two players will be reimbursed for losing valuables in the course of duty.
Gyan had his US$ 10,000 stolen and Muntari expensive jewellery was also taken away by the thief at the Maseru Sun Hotel while they were grinding out a 2-0 win last month.
The CCTV footage at the hotel captured a man wearing a Black Stars track suit emerging from the hotel with the stolen items. “It was quite surprising because we were the only people on the hotel floor but in life anything can happen,” Ghana captain Gyan is quoted by Ghana Sports.
“That notwithstanding, I must say thank you to the Ministry for the effort they made.
”The authorities have assured us we will be compensated for whatever we lost whilst in the line of duty for Ghana.”
