Rising Nigerian artist Strei is not just producing music—he’s creating an emotional journey for his listeners.
With over 20 million streams in under a year, he has quickly established himself as one of the most promising voices in Nigeria’s music scene, thanks to his signature Afromood sound, a fusion of Afro rhythms and mood-driven expression.
His debut EP, I.T.A.M. (Introduction to Afromood), debuted at #6 on Spotify’s Top 50 Viral Chart and amassed over 15 million streams within six months.
Follow-up singles, including Imagine and Blessing, further cemented his growing influence. Strei also signed a distribution deal with Platoon in August 2025 and released Crazily featuring BabyBoy AV, expanding his global fanbase.
For Strei, Afromood is more than a genre—it is an honest reflection of his emotions. “Before anything, it was just me trying to express exactly how I felt—sad, moody, in love, angry, or happy,” he explains.
“Over time, that honesty became a sound. The moment I saw people singing every word from I.T.A.M. with real emotion, I knew it had taken on a life of its own.”
Despite his rapid rise, Strei remains meticulous and intentional about his craft, balancing music, branding, and world-building.
“Bringing branding and world-building ideas to life can be hectic, but with my team, we’ve managed to create immersive experiences that complement the music,” he says. Collaborations, like Crazily, allow him creative freedom, where energy and emotion flow naturally between artists.
Looking ahead, Strei aims to expand Afromood into new textures while maintaining its raw, emotional foundation.
“I’m pushing the sound into new textures, adding more emotion and vulnerability, and working on collaborations that align with the Afromood world,” he reveals.
With a growing international audience and a commitment to authentic expression, Strei is positioning himself as not just a breakout artist, but a long-term creative force redefining how music connects with the heart and mind.
