The Principal of the Sunyani Social Welfare Technical Institute (SWTI), Rev. Dr Emmanuel Wozuame, has stated that the absence of modern technological training tools is negatively impacting the quality of training at the institute.
He said the institute requires the right resources and infrastructure to provide quality technical and vocational training, but management has struggled to improvise almost everything.
Speaking at the institute’s Students’ Representative Council (SRC) week celebration, Rev. Dr Wozuame explained that the institute cannot admit more students due to inadequate modern tools, workshops, dormitories, and classrooms.

He thus called on the government and benevolent organisations to help provide the necessary training tools to enhance quality training.
“Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) transforms raw talents into skilled artisans, technicians, and professionals.
“Our learners don’t seek jobs, they create jobs, establish repair shops, launch startups, and innovate. They are the engines of economic growth,” he added.

The principal advised the students not to allow the institute's current challenges to discourage them, but they should ambitiously strive to make their dreams a reality.
The Bono Regional Director of the Informal Apprenticeship Division of the Ghana TVET Service (GTVETS), Edmund Pinto, affirmed the government's commitment to retool and upgrade the technical infrastructure of all TVET institutions for better training.
He urged parents to support their wards to undergo Technical and Vocational Education and Training for a brighter future.

The SRC President of the Sunyani Social Welfare Technical Institute, Prince Nyewil, urged the students to embrace diversity and unite to pursue their dreams irrespective of their challenges.

Established in 1974 as the sole institute to train physically challenged persons, the Sunyani Social Welfare Technical Institute currently has a population of 400 students, including 10 physically challenged persons.
The institute runs courses in electrical engineering technology, building construction technology, hospitality and catering management, motor vehicle engineering, fashion design technology, textiles technology, and leather works technology.
