One of the suspects was arrested but two others managed to escape with the booty.
The deceased and the arrested suspect are yet to be identified.
The suspects were said to have attacked the bank with guns at about 10am, knocked the security man on duty with the butt of their gun and succeeded in taking money from the bank.
Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Yusif Tanko told Graphic Online that the suspects fled the bank premises in a Hyundai Sonata saloon vehicle with registration number GS 2391-13.
He said the police were called in afterwards and the Bufalo Unit pursued them on the Ejisu-Effiduase road where they engaged the police in gun fire.
The police succeeded in arresting one of them after one had been killed in the shoot-out. The rest managed to escape with the booty.
The bank is yet to ascertain the exact amount the suspects took away.
ASP Tanko said the police were still pursuing the suspects and were of the hope that they would be apprehended.
