It was all tears on the faces of team mates, fans, friends and family members who gathered at the Academy House to witness the third eviction show of the MTN Soccer Academy Ghana/Nigeria 2009 Reality TV show as team mate number 4, Adu-Poku Phillip was axed out of the Academy house. Team mate number 5, Hayford–Nuako Manu was so much affected by the eviction of Adu-Poku that his cries drew back the evictee to rather console him as they went through the tunnel.
Before the eviction, there was a match between the MTN Nigeria team mates and the Metro TV Ghana team. The former had at the back of their minds the loss they suffered at the hands of the latter last week and planned a revenge to redeem themselves at all cost.
The qualification of the Super Eagles to next year’s World Cup in South Africa gave them a lot of motivation going into the game. By the end of the final whistle, the results stood at a goal apiece. The goal for the Metro TV Ghana team was scored by Frank Antwi, team mate number 14 and the equalizer for the MTN Nigeria team coming from team mate number 11, Raphael Okoroafor
Ghana’s Reggae Icon Shaha Marley and Kwesi Pee, one of Ghana’s finest musicians based in the UK entertained the occasion and performed to the admiration of the crowd gathered at the house.
The judges for the night were Miss Awo Baah Abankwa, Business Development Manager, OMP, Coaches Dan Owusu and Ibrahim Sunday. According to the judges all the team mates are winners and that no matter what happens, they should never lose their focus. All the judges were also impressed with the beautiful display of soccer talents by each of the team mates on the night.
Mr Lord Oware presented the results of SMS votes, Jurors & Coaches Scores to Eddy Blay who announced the evictee for the night. There was great shock in the House when the executioner, Eddie axed Phillip Adu-Poku. It took Philip a while before he realized that indeed he was out of the house, magnanimous however in defeat.
He thanked all those who supported him throughout his stay in the competition. Joseph Ogbuka of MTN Nigeria, and Miss Awo Baah Abankwa presented a trophy and an autographed football to the evictee.
Meanwhile, Miss Cynthia B. Kusi who has won an all round trip ticket to Europe was presented with an Afriqiyah Air Ticket for being the highest texter to MTN Short code 1951 for the Afriqiyah Text SMS promotion on the soccer academy reality show.
