Over the last two months since its launch, the Telecel 2Moorch Money Promo has been sparking economic hope and lighting up the lives of thousands of people across the length and breadth of Ghana, who have won in the daily and weekly draws of the telco’s cash rewards campaign.
Ebenezer Botwe, a veteran tiler with 30 years of experience in wall and floor tiling, recounts his journey from activating the promotion on his phone in late June to winning GH₵20,000 at the end of July.
“It all began with a commercial on TV. It was the one where the landlord was ejecting the tenant because he couldn't pay his rent, and like a miracle, he received a text that he had won over a million cedis. I watched it and said to myself, 'This could be a game changer for me too'.”
Ebenezer said he picked up his phone, dialled the USSD code: *500# to activate the promo and stayed active.
The Darkuman-based father of six said he was working on a tiling job about six weeks after he opted into the promo when the call came through announcing he had won GH₵20,000. Overwhelmed with joy, he immediately informed his wife and prayed that the news of the newly found fortune was not a scam.
Two days later, Ebenezer received his cash prize in his Telecel Cash account during the prize presentation event at the Dome Market, accompanied by his wife and friends. He shared his testimony at church, encouraging members of his congregation to join the Telecel 2Moorch Money promo.
“It is God’s plan. This money is going straight into expanding my tiling business so I can take on bigger jobs and hire more people. Telecel 2Moorch Money promo is real, just activate, stay active, and you could win the weekly cash,” Ebenezer said.
Over the past nine weeks, a total of 60 people have won the weekly cash prize of GH₵20,000 in every nook and cranny of the country, from Kasoa to Savelugu, Jirapa to Hohoe, and Koforidua to Berekum, indicating the promo’s nationwide impact and reach.
Telecel Ghana’s 2Moorch Money Promo is the telco’s biggest customer rewards campaign to date, with over 10,000 customers set to win daily and weekly cash prizes ahead of the grand GHC1.2 million prize at the end of September.
Over 600 kilometres up north, Sajidatu Wumbrili, a first-year university student of Public Health, was in the middle of a practical research programme in Bongasi, a small community outside of Tamale, when her phone rang with similar good news.
“They said I had won GH¢20,000, but I thought it was a prank,” she laughed. The turning point came when the Telecel team offered to drive to her location and transport her to Tamale for the cash prize presentation.
Sajidatu said winning the money felt like divine intervention. “I never imagined I could receive such a big money without doing anything stressful. It is a blessing.”
Living with her parents and two younger siblings in Tamale, Sajidatu dreams of becoming an epidemiologist to help reduce disease outbreaks in Northern Ghana.
Being a supportive child, she handed over most of the prize money to her parents to invest in their small family trade and her education, keeping a portion to support her upkeep.
“They’ve always believed in me. Now, I get to give back in my own way,” she said.
Director of Consumer Business at Telecel Ghana, Aneth Muga, said the winning customer stories are evidence that the 2Moorch Money Promo is doing exactly what it was designed to do.
“We are delighted to see that the 2Moorch Money campaign is creating financial freedom, fueling dreams, and supporting people with real ambitions to achieve them. What matters most is seeing lives improve with the cash rewards, and we will encourage more people to join the promo as it can change their lives for the better,” Aneth added.
Under the oversight of the National Lottery Authority through its Caritas platform, Telecel Ghana is rewarding 120 customers with GH¢100 daily; up to eight winners with GH¢20,000 weekly and the luckiest Telecel user will take home the life-changing sum of GH¢1.2 million.
For weekly and grand prize winners they receive the winning announcement through a phone call from an official Telecel representative using this phone number: 0203000004.
