Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tema Central Constituency of the Greater Accra Region have locked up the offices of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in protest against what they describe as unfair and exclusionary appointment processes.
The action, led by Constituency Chairman Benjamin Ims Djakumah, follows mounting dissatisfaction over recent appointments to the NHIS and other public institutions within the constituency.
According to the executives, the appointments were made without consultation and overlooked several qualified party members in Tema Central.
Chairman Djakumah said the constituency leadership is deeply unhappy with what he described as a recurring pattern of sidelining grassroots executives who worked tirelessly for the party’s success.
Supporting the protest, Constituency Secretary Henry Davidson Ayeh said party executives feel taken for granted despite their commitment and loyalty to the NDC.
Constituency Organiser Abdul Razak Mohammed Mutakwil also stressed that the sacrifices made by party faithful in Tema Central must be recognised, warning that years of hard work should not be allowed to go to waste.
