The newborn care unit at the Bolgatanga Hospital will be closed from Monday, April 6, until further notice, authorities say.
The decision comes after a 33-year-old pregnant woman who was admitted at the facility, tested positive for Covid-19.
The facility has since stopped taking in new patients.
Though hospital authorities are yet to officially speak on the matter, JoyNews sources at the hospital have revealed two doctors and a number of midwives and nurses who attended to the woman have also been asked to self-isolate.
Earlier reports had also indicated that, the woman in question had absconded from the hospital.
But a statement released by the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council has, however, denied this.
According to the Council, the woman is still at the hospital and showing signs of recovery.
