Ghana international midfielder Salis Abdul Samed has revealed his bright performance in his first season with RC Lens is due to the way his teammates and his manager received him upon his arrival.
The midfielder joined the Ligue 1 side last summer from Clermont Foot signing a five-year deal with Lens in a deal which was reported to be around five million Euros.
In his maiden season with Lens, Salis has played 31 out of 36 games this season starting in all while he has missed three games due to suspension after a red card against Paris Saint-Germain.
Speaking to Get French Football News, the Ghanaian disclosed the rationale behind his fine form for his new club.
“When I arrived, the coach and my teammates put their faith in me straight away,” he said.
“They helped me improve in training – I applied what I was doing at Clermont and listened to the coach in order to progress here as well. This team is like a family, so it was easy for me to adapt.”
Salis also added that the conversation with Lens’ manager was key in his decision to sign for the club after deciding to leave Clermont,
“Yes, he [Franck Haise] was the one who called my agents. He was really interested and wanted me to come, so then my agents spoke to the club,” he continued.
“I wanted to come as well, because I felt it was the club that could allow me to improve and move forward, and I liked their style of play. I picked Lens, but there were other clubs interested as well.”
The 23-year-old will play in the Champions League with Lens next season after securing a place in the top three.
