For some days now, the media, both electronic and print, has been flooded with adverts by self-acclaimed prophets of one-man churches, inviting people to attend 31st December watch-night service at their church. Giants bill-boards and posters of various sizes have also been plastered at vantage points throughout Accra.
Personally,i'm not against people worshiping in church at 31st night, however,i have serious reservations with this creeping craze of people trooping into church hoses with a totally false belief that a 31st night prayer is a special one that goes directly to the throne room of the Almighty God.
This false belief by the masses of our people, is what these prophetically prophetic prophets who are nothing but plain-faced charlatans and hungry economic crusaders, have expertly designed a strategy to tap into, in order to excessively milk these gullible worshipers, stuff their bank balances, build mansions, eat the best of foods, drink choicest of wines and travel in business-class across the globe.
I have even heard some of these prophets advertising on television that he is going to place free buses at vantage points throughout Accra to carry prospective worshipers to his church on 31st night. He also says he is going to distribute rice, free of charge, to those who respond to his clarion call to join him.
Now, if such a person really had any genuine assistance to those who couldn't afford the basics of life during the yuletide, is 31st December night the right time to extend a hand, after Christmas is way gone?
Unquestionably, some of these gullible members of society might be having genuine personal problems and therefore are seeking divine solutions but these self-acclaimed prophetic charlatans have device a clever strategy to capitalize of people's misfortunes to excessively milk them.
Consequently, I will urge my fellow Ghanaians never to see any mortal being as the median through whom one's prayer can be answered by God, but rather be mindful of the scripture that says "But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).Effectively, when you seek God diligently, He will reward you, irrespective of the location.
These so-called prophets, after robbing you of your monies under the cloak of 'offerings’, then will deceive you into making porous declarations like "MY YEAR OF OVER-FLOWING BLESSINGS,MY YEAR OF PLENTIFUL GRACE,MY YEAR OF ABUNDANCE HARVEST” etc.,only to end up with "my year of empty hands”, come the next 31st December watch-night service!!!
