Three people narrowly escaped injury after a diesel truck overturned following a mechanical fault at Bawa Akora in the Oti Region on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
According to a post shared on Facebook by the Ghana National Service (GNFS), the accident occurred at approximately 17:57 pm when a MAN diesel truck, with registration number BA 782-V, reportedly developed a steering wheel malfunction, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle subsequently fell onto its right side.
Despite the potentially serious nature of the incident, all three occupants onboard the truck escaped unhurt.

Personnel from the Pai-Katanga Fire Post responded to a distress call and were dispatched to the scene to manage the situation.

The crew, led by Sub Officer John J. Kpego, worked to avert a secondary disaster by syphoning diesel from the vehicle’s fuel tank and containing the spillage.

This was aimed at preventing a possible fire outbreak, given the highly flammable nature of the cargo.

The swift intervention of the fire service ensured the area was secured and the risk of ignition effectively minimised. The crew completed their operations and returned to base at 19:20 pm.
