On 10th March, 2014, the Kotoko fraternity was struck with the death of Jerry Asare, known in football circles as "show show" at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.
Before his demise, he was the spokesperson for the Asante Kotoko board that was inaugurated by the Asantehene in 2013 and was headed by Paul Adu-Gyamfi.
Jerry Asare first served as a management member of Kotoko in 2004 when he was appointed by appointed Major (rtd) Yaw Larsen as the Accra rep, before he was named by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as the Operations Manager in the Sylvestre Asare Owusu-led management team.
In 2010, he was asked to serve on the K.K Sarpong-led board and subsequently appointed to head the Kotoko Africa Cup Committee in 2013.
Jerry Asare was a die-hard Kotoko fan and really served his club with a passion.
He will surely be missing in Ghana Football.
