Striker Asamoah Djan has grabbed the headlines in a club record signing fee of £ 13.24 to English side Sunderland from Rennes for four years.
Gyan scored three goals for Ghana at the 2010 World Cup and his arrival is timely as Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that forward Fraizer Campbell has been ruled out for at least six months due to a cruciate ligament injury.
Roma have also loaned out Ahmed Barusso to Serie B outfit Livorno for the third time since moving to the capital-based club in 2007.
And still in Italy, Genoa have loaned youngster Isaac Cofie to Torino.
Other African players on the move include Nigerian star Joseph Yobo who has agreed a season-long loan deal with Turkish side Fenabache from Everton.
Elsewhere, AC Milan have signed Brazil forward Robinho on a permanent basis from Manchester City.
The Brazil international was initially thought to have been heading to the San Siro on loan, but he has now agreed a four-year contract with the Serie A giants.
