A taxi driver who attempted to rob people with a toy gun has been arrested by Odorkor police.
Simpson Quaye, 27 is said to have robbed his passengers with the gun at vantage points.
He used the same tactic to rob Vida Agamaku of Awoshie but was later arrested at his Mallam residence on September 14.
Briefing Daily Guide, Odorkor District Commander, Superintendent Ebenezer Asare said Agamaku boarded the taxi with registration number GR 4148 Y to work on September 7 around 5:30am.
While on the road, Quaye pulled out the toy pistol and ordered her to surrender her phone and money or else he would kill her.
“Terrified, the victim quickly handed over everything she had including GH¢87.00 and ID card to Quaye who then pushed her out of the car.”
As fate would have it the victim received a call from a mechanic at Mallam that her ID card had been found in a taxi at his shop, he said
“The victim rushed to the shop to discover the taxi was the one used to rob her.
He said a complaint was lodged with the Anyaa Police where the taxi owner was arrested.
“The owner of the taxi when apprehended also led the police to the driver’s home”.
According to Superintendent Asare, the toy gun was found in his room after a thorough search by the police. The victim also identified him during a parade as the one who robbed her.
“The suspect is however being prepared for court whilst investigations continue,” he added.
