Ghanaians have flooded social media with tributes and messages of shock following the tragic deaths of Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment, Science and Technology Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed in a military helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6.
The two were among eight individuals, including a presidential staffer and security personnel, who perished when a Ghana Armed Forces Z-9 helicopter went down in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region while en route to Obuasi.
Tributes are pouring in on social media platforms X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram following the loss of the officials.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, wrote on X, "Heartbroken! Sad day."
