The headmaster of Adaklu Kodzobi Primary and Junior Secondary schools in the Adaklu Anyigbe District, Stanley Ansah, has advised parents not to see teachers as people who are insensitive to the plight of their children."You should see teachers as collaborators for the total development of children under their care."Mr. Ansah said this in reaction to Monday's National De-worming Exercise during which there were rumours that many school children in the Volta Region died after taking the de-wormer.He said teachers were also parents and will do nothing to harm children entrusted to their care.Mr. Ansah said there were chaotic scenes in most schools when the rumour started and some parents verbally and physically assaulted teachers for administering the de-wormer to their children."It is necessary for parents and teachers to put their heads together in such panic situations to avoid any tragedy."Mr. Ansah, who described the incident as "a comedy", said for instance, a caller from Accra who is a citizen of the town wanted to know if 10 children actually died in his school after taking the drug.He appealed to those who take delight in such rumours to weigh the consequences of such acts.Rumours circulated yesterday in the Volta Region that pupils were dying after being administered with a de-wormer.Source: GNA
