Two out of 202 candidates who registered at Tuobodom Senior High School (SHS) in the Brong-Ahafo Region died before the commencement of this year’s West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) last Monday.
The deceased, both males, died in a motor accident on the Adutwie-Offuman road in Techiman Municipality.
Mr Godfred Axolu, Techiman Municipal Director of Education made this known to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) when he visited five examination centres of the WASSCE in the municipality.
A total of 1,330 candidates including those from absorbed private SHS in the five centres are taking part in the examinations.
Mr Axolu said two female candidates from the same school are pregnant and could not take the Oral English Paper on Monday.
Two registered girls of the school could not feature in the examination because they brought forth two weeks earlier before the commencement of the examinations.
Mr Axolu urged the invigilators to conduct themselves orderly in order not to put the WASSCE and the Ghana Education Service into disrepute.
