Police in Obuasi have arrested two suspects for allegedly vandalizing a car belonging to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for the Adansi-Akrofuom Constituency in the Ashanti Region.
Ironically, the incident occurred on the day that the presidential candidates were signing a pact to commit themselves and their supporters to peace before, during and after the elections.
The MP, Appea Pinkra, claims that the attackers, believed to be National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters, have been harassing NPP sympathizers in the area.
Obuasi Divisional Crime Officer DSP Kwabena Oto Agyepong told Joy News the two are assisting in investigations.
In a related development, police in Kumasi are holding a couple in connection with the kidnapping of a 2 day-old baby about a week ago.
Police earlier arrested a 30 year-old woman named Hajia Salamatu in connection with the abduction after reuniting the mother and child.
They have now arrested the suspect’s husband for his alleged involvement in the incident.
The police told Luv News they were tipped off by an informant who read about the kidnapping on Myjoyonline.com.
