Tema Circuit Court 'A' has fined Benjamin Aggrey 23 and unemployed 1,200 Ghana cedis or in default serve five years imprisonment for
making duplicates of keys to a room belonging to Ms Elizabeth Tawiah and stealing 1,500 Ghana cedis from her.
Aggrey was convicted on his own plea for intention to steal and stealing.
Police Chief Inspector Sarah Acquah prosecuting told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu, that the complainant lived in the same area at Tema Community Four and attended the same church with the accused.
She said sometime in June this year, the accused informed the complainant that he had left his book in her room during a visit and needed her keys to collect it, but the accused made duplicates of the keys before returning them to the complainant.
The prosecution said the complainant later detected that some items were missing from her room until Sunday, October 28, when the accused who saw the complainant during church service left, entered her room and stole 1,500 Ghana cedis.
She said the accused was arrested by a witness and when the complainant was informed he was handed over together with the duplicate keys to Community One police.
The prosecution said during interrogation, the accused denied stealing 1,500 Ghana cedis but confessed stealing 950 Ghana cedis from the complainant's room since June and after investigations charged with the offence.
