President of Ghana football Kwasi Nyantakyi has exclusively told JOY Sports that, Asamoah Gyan will be dropped from the Black Stars squad for this month’s Cup of Nations if he is unable to recover from a hamstring injury that puts his participation in doubt.
According to him, they will not hesitate to leave Gyan out he fails to make full recovery from his injury.
“If Asamoah’s condition is such that he is not fit for the tournament, he would have to be replaced” He told Joy Sports
“This position that I’m stating has been discussed with the technical team and everyone is aware of that but we are just hoping and praying he recovers”
The Al Ain striker is due to receive special medical attention in South Africa later this week from a Serbian expert who has been contracted to ensure the striker recovers in time from a second degree hamstring injury that is expected to rule out a player for at least between three and four weeks.
