The 15th Ghanaian Battalion (Ghanbatt 15) serving under the United Nations Operations in La Cote d’ Ivoire (UNOCI) on Friday November 11, 2011, marked the Remembrance Day with a call on peacekeepers serving under UNOCI to work assiduously towards imbibing in Ivorians a lasting peace.
Delivering his message during a solemn memorial parade at the Ghanbatt Headquarters located at Bondoukou in the Zanzan region, La Cote d’Ivoire, the Commanding Officer of Ghanbatt 15, Lt Col Fred Ntiri, entreated peacekeepers to endeavour to work towards lasting peace devoid of infractions which might be injurious to sections of the populace.
The day, also known as Poppy Day was observed to commemorate those who lost their lives in the two World Wars and later conflicts.

The first wreath was laid by the Commanding Officer on behalf of the Ghana Armed Forces and all serving peacekeepers.
The Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) of the Ghanbatt, Senior Warrant Officer (SWO) Aggrey Isaac laid the second one on behalf of All Ghanaian Veterans.
On parade to mark the day were 30 personnel including 5 Women. The parade was under the Command of Capt Patrick Atuiri with the Ghanbatt Corps of Drums in attendance.
