The Upper West branch of the New Patriotic Party has accused the Deputy Regional Minister of lying about the construction of some health facilities in the region.
Kale Caesar is reported to have said government has completed the building of the Upper West regional hospital and five polyclinics.
But at a news conference, the NPP said he misrepresented the facts for political reasons.
Correspondent Rafiq Salaam reported the youth as saying the conduct of the deputy minister was not very surprising because it only formed part of the governing NDC’s grand design to perpetuate lies.
The Upper West Regional Communication Director of the NPP, James Zugura said the the lies perpetrated by Mr Caesar had the tendency to turn away philanthropists who otherwise would have helped the region in enhancing its health delivery.
“The fact and the truth is that there is no any hospital and five polyclinics built in the Upper West Region by the NDC as we speak now. This propaganda posture adopted by the NDC and carried out by its top functionaries is not only dangerous…but also set bad precedent for this generation and posterity; the NDC has succeeded in reducing politics to lies and propaganda,” Mr Zugura stated.
But Mr Caesar denied ever saying the projects were complete.
“We said that the five polyclinics and the regional hospitals are ongoing projects. The [Daily] Graphic reporter is here, …I’ve actually protested and I’ve asked him to do a rejoinder to retract that statement and actually come clean,” he said.
