Residents of Ketu South have been urged to go for regular checks for hepatitis B infections, as the disease has become one of the major health problems in the municipality.
At a health outreach programme by the Ketu South Professionals, and Hepatitis B Foundation of Ghana, with support from Emmaldo Ghana limited based in Accra, it was realized that many of the residents do not go for checkups but wait until they are taken ill from hepatitis B.
This situation, according to the groups, is not healthy and the people need to be educated on the importance of regular check-ups.
Financial Secretary of the group, Bless Atoklo, in an interview with the media, said the purpose of the health outreach was to identify some of the health issues among the residents who are mostly farmers and fisher folks and help them
Apart from the screening of over 400 residents, the group also educated the communities on health-related issues and how to deal with them
The groups in previous years have educated schools and residents through radio programs.
