Wa All Stars settled for a one-one draw game with Accra Hearts of Oak in the premier league match played at the Wa Sports Stadium.
The match started in a fast note with All Stars dominating the early part of the game, creating the impression that they were out to show their skills and to score goals to please their supporters who kept cheering them up.
In their anticipation to score an early goal to disengage Hearts, they put more men upfront and that created a leaking defence.
Eric Gawu of Hearts of Oak took advantage of the situation to score the first goal in the 29th minute for his side contrary to the trend of play.
He received a pass from the right flank, surveyed the goal area of All Stars and went solo through the sloppy defence network of the homesters, teasing out Keeper Dabou from his post before planting the ball into the net for the first goal.
Gawu kept on tormenting the defence of the homesters but he was either caught offside or kicked the ball over the bar to the surprise of the supporters.
Hassam Mohammed covered up for any lapses on the part of his mates, clearing danger balls from Hearts goal area.
He moved forward to help the attackers upfront but his efforts could not yield a goal till referee Agbovi Williams brought the first half to end.
Back from recess, All Stars brought in Daniel Bomfa and Michael Abiodun to strengthen the attack while Felix Baffoe and Acheampong Elvis also went in for Hearts of Oak.
The substitution, however, favoured All Stars as Bomfa who was lingering round Hearts goal area received a pass and outran two defensemen, delivering a thunderous shot that beat Keeper McCarthy to register the equalizer for his side in the 61st minute.
Bomfa’s effort gingered his colleagues to put in extra effort in search for a lead but erratic shooting and too many passes in the goal area made their opponents to cover up to deny them another goal.
Gawu could have increased the tally in the 79th minute when he dribbled his way through but to the surprise of everybody, his shot at goal was palmed back to play.
Hassam Mohammed, who was a bit physical in his play was shown the red card in the dying minutes of the game when he brought down an attacker of All Stars.
Daniel Bomfa failed to score in the 86th minute after beating an offside trap.
Hearts hand also made some attempts to increase their goal tally but Eric Gawu and Felix Baffoe could not capitalize on the begging chances that came their way till the final whistle for the end of the match.
