The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has announced plans to review and integrate the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) 2.0 programme into the current government’s agricultural development initiatives.
The original PFJ initiative, launched by the previous NPP government in 2017, aimed to boost the supply of farming inputs such as fertilizers and seedlings.
The policy was later revised into PFJ 2.0, introducing a broader framework for agricultural development.
During the second day of his working tour, the Minister addressed concerns about the future of the policy following the change of government.
He assured stakeholders that the programme will be assessed and adapted to align with the new administration’s objectives, ensuring its continuation as part of efforts to enhance agricultural productivity in Ghana.
"What we will do with the PFJ 2 is that we are going to look at it, tailor it to fit into our agenda, and then go ahead with it. It’s all about government and government is supposed to continue. We don't end just like that."
"So whatever the previous government has done, which can fit into our agenda, we ensure that we proceed with it. But if it is something that should come up work with, we will also give you the indication."

On Monday, the Minister for Food and Agriculture served a stern warning to employees under his ministry against any attempt to sabotage his work with partisan politics.

The Minister gave the warning at a meeting with staff of various directorates, as part of his tour of departments and agencies under the ministry on Monday, January 27, 2025.
"The politics is over. You may belong to whichever party. At the end of the day, we're talking about Ghana and how to govern our country. So let us hang our political jackets and mobilise all that we have," he cautioned.
