Thirty-three-year-old Kwaku Abrefa Damoah was on Thursday nominated and approved as the new Paramount Chief of the Wenchi Traditional Area.
The new ‘Omanhene’ who hails from ‘Ahenfie Yefiri Royal Family’ of Wenchi is the grandson of the ‘Omanhemaa’ (queen mother) of Wenchi, Nana Atoa Sramangyedua III.
He succeeds the late Osagyefo Professor Anye Amoanpong Ntabrako II.
Kwaku Abrefa Damoah was nominated by Nana Atoa Sramangyedua III, Omanhemaa of Gyaase Ahenfie Yefiri and approved by Gyaase and Amanfo), the ( Kingmakers).
Nana Damoah Koasane Adissi Poku Kofabae IV, the Akyeamehene of the Wenchi Traditional Area, announced the nomination and approval at a colourful ceremony at the Omanhemaa’s house at Wenchi.
According to tradition, the nomination has to be done by the Omanhemaa, the Akyeamehene said.
