Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has appealed to voters to remain peaceful as the election rerun continues across 19 polling stations in the Ablekuma North constituency.
His comments followed a violent incident at the Odorkor Methodist 1 polling station, where former MP for Awutu Senya East, Hawa Koomson, was reportedly assaulted.
Dr Boamah, who visited the scene alongside Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak, condemned the chaos and called for a return to calm.

“This is a civil exercise and we are not at war,” he told the media.
"What we experienced at Ayawaso West Wuogon should not be repeated. It should be a peaceful exercise and people should be able to exercise their franchise.”
He stressed that any acts of violence or disruption would be handled appropriately and investigated by the police.

“Any challenges would be addressed by the Ghana Police Service, and trust that they will do it,” he added.
He has called for maximum cooperation with the Police in managing elections in Ghana, where he described the police as a professional institution.
“The police are a very professional institution, when you don’t see them reacting with force, it doesn’t mean they are not working. Let us give the police the maximum cooperation,” he said.
The chaos at the Odorkor Methodist 1 station led to a suspension of voting, where unidentified men arrived in a pickup vehicle and forcefully entered the premises, despite the presence of police officers.
The group reportedly headed to the polling area and began assaulting individuals at the scene. Security officials have since taken control of the area, and calm has been restored.
