Fred Crentsil has explained why Black Stars coach Avram Grant will join the national U-20 team next week as they continue preparations for the African Youth Championships in Senegal.
The Israeli trainer, who has finished his 10-day leave after guiding the Black Stars to second at the AFCON, is required to provide technical assistance to Sellas Tetteh who is hoping to win his second African Youth title.
Grant will return to Accra next week but will travel with the Black Satellites to Senegal for the tournament.
“He (Avram Grant) is more or less the technical director for all the national teams," the adminsitrator explained to Joy Sports.
"He will assist them in the technical direction of the teams. Once he gets to their training sessions he will be there and if there are any lapses he will correct them,” he went on.
Fred Crentsil, aside his role as Ghana FA Vice President is also the general coordinator for all the national teams. He was at pains to brush aside claims that the U-20 coach will have to look over his shoulder.
"He’s not taking over the team. The team is still being handle by Sellas Tetteh but if there is anything he thinks should be done one way or the other he will advice the coaches."
Ghana defeated Azerbaijan 2-1 in a pre-Africa Youth Championship friendly match in Turkey on Wednesday.
