The Press Secretary and Spokesperson for the Vice President, Maame Ama Pratt, has underscored the government’s commitment to advancing policies that promote the welfare, education, and empowerment of women and girls across Ghana.
Speaking on behalf of Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang at the Women in Gospel Music, Gratitude 2025 celebration, Ama Pratt emphasised that empowering women and improving the health and education of girls remain key priorities on the government’s agenda.
“The leadership of His Excellency President John Mahama is committed to championing the empowerment and well-being of women and girls in Ghana, and this initiative aligns with it perfectly”, she reaffirmed
Ama Pratt described women as the backbone of every society, noting that no institution, school, or church can progress without women’s active involvement.
She commended the Women in Gospel Music team for their sanitary pad distribution initiative, calling it a thoughtful effort to reduce school absenteeism among girls during menstruation.
“I applaud your team’s thoughtful initiative to support young girls in the community with sanitary towels, a vital national course. Many girls drop out of school during their menstrual periods due to the lack of sanitary pads” she said.
Commending the sanitary towel distribution initiative by the women in the Gospel Music team, she said the initiative aligns with national efforts to support girls during menstruation and reduce absenteeism during school hours.
She added that there’s an urgent need for better sanitation and hygiene facilities in schools to protect the health, dignity, and confidence of adolescent girls.
She outlined key policy priorities driving the government’s gender agenda, including promoting gratitude as a developmental value, recognising women as central to national growth, and expanding opportunities in education, health, and economic participation.
She stressed that gratitude is the attitude that elevates us to a higher altitude as a nation. Particularly as women, gratitude must become a daily practice for women are the backbone of every society.
She also encouraged women leaders, especially those in gospel music, to use their influence to mentor and inspire others. “When women rise, families thrive and nations progress,” she said.
The Women in Gospel Music, Gratitude 2025 event celebrated women’s impact through faith, service, and advocacy, aligning with the government’s vision to build a more inclusive and empowered Ghana.
