Former Deputy Education Minister, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has criticised former President John Dramani Mahama for relying on a stakeholder forum to shape his vision for Ghana’s education sector.
According to him, a leader should already have a clear plan and direction for education without requiring such consultations.
Speaking on JoyNews’ The Pulse programme on Tuesday, 18th February, Rev. Ntim Fordjour argued that decisive leadership involves setting a firm vision rather than waiting for external input.
“A leader must have a clear and defined vision for education. You don’t need a stakeholder forum to tell you what your priorities should be,” he stated.
His comments come in response to the ongoing National Education Forum in Ho.
The former Deputy Minister questioned the effectiveness of such forums in shaping policy, suggesting that Mahama should have already articulated his plans for the sector.
He pointed out that past engagements of this nature had not always translated into actionable reforms.
“Stakeholder engagements are useful, but they should complement a well-thought-out vision, not serve as a substitute for leadership,” he added.
Rev. Ntim Fordjour’s remarks highlight the broader debate on education policy direction in Ghana.
