Chief Executive Officer of rLG Communications, Roland Agambire is daring young entrepreneurs to stay focused on the good aspects of their ventures, in order to win the confidence of consumers who may want to buy into their vision. He says it is also important to learn from dismal performances as part of the winning strategies in their business operations. The 2010 Young Entrepreneur of the Year has observed a growing ambition among Ghanaian youths to succeed in business, but notes that the fear of failure remains a major setback. Mr. Agambire has been sharing the experiences of rLG Communication at a seminar in Kumasi organized by the Muslim Professionals Association. The company is the pioneer mobile phone assembling company in Ghana, providing jobs for hundreds of Ghanaians through mobile phone sales, assembling and repairs. Mr. Agabire said it is important to encourage the youth to regard failure as part of life and be anxious to dare into the world of business. “I love losing but I like winning; out of the losing process, you’re able to learn the lessons that will help you to win; and people need to understand why would you want to lose. Because you’re not afraid to dare and once you’re not afraid to dare, all the things you attempt to dare, [even if] you lose, you learn something out of it and this is what they need to be empowered with”, he told Luv Biz Report. The rLG CEO is also entreating thriving entrepreneurs to share experiences that will help strengthen business skills of start-ups to achieve an overall goal of carving a nitche for Ghana’s business environment. According to him, successful entrepreneurs have it as a duty to motivate others to veer into establishing new businesses. “I am an advocate for youth empowerment in the sense that I wish it’s not just talent driven but also people can set up their own businesses and be able to grow the businesses like what we’re doing… for me the story of what we’ve started doing with rLG and the rest of the companies is not the beginning; the beginning is yet to come when we’re able to leave what we’re doing today for generations to come and then testify that we were not just doing this for our own sake but we were doing it for their time”, Mr. Agambire noted. Meanwhile, business advocates continue to encourage young graduates and other youth to look beyond government and other establishments for employment. General Secretary of the Muslim Professionals Association, Alhaji Naser, said the youth should harness their potential to create and grow their own businesses.
