Florence Larbi, the Managing Director of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, has been honoured as a fellow by the Board Room Institute of the Graduate School of Governance and Leadership.
Mrs. Larbi stood alongside other honourees at a well attended and colourful ceremony at the National Theatre in Accra.
The award now gives the conferees the opportunity to add the title “FBI,” meaning Fellow of Board Room Institute, to their names.
The Institute, which promotes excellence in enterprise governance, honoured about 20 fellows and 15 Associate Fellows and while awarding certificates to about 200 students in various fields. These include Advanced Executive Certificate Programmes and Postgraduate Diplomas in Business Administration in fields like oil and gas and strategic management.
Mr. Brookman Amissah, a Fellow of the Institute, said in an address that it had become imperative for industry leaders to take such courses in order to meet the challenges of a growing economy and to empower their subordinates to compete effectively and confidently with their peers across the globe.
“Leadership”, he added “is about capacity, competence, ability to perform and analyze results. More importantly, leadership is about inspiring others to pick up that mantle to in turn lead future generations.” He used the occasion to challenge the private sector to support the building of strong institutions.
Professor Omane Antwi, Vice Rector of the Pentecost University and Chairman for the occasion, charged the graduates to be servant leaders ready to sacrifice for their employees and the nation at large.
In an interview after the ceremony, Mrs. Larbi said she was grateful to God almighty who has helped her in the arduous task of managing Zoomlion affairs as Human Resource Manager, General Manager and Managing Director since 2006.
