A joint Police and military team has busted 16 at Yeji in the Bono East Region during a special exercise conducted to clamp down on criminals in the area.
One of the suspects, Ibrahim (also known as JJ, was found in possession of a Bruni pistol mod 92, a revolver pistol, a dismantled shotgun, G 3, five rounds of ammunition and browning pistol with six rounds of ammunitions suspected to be used for armed robbery.

Suspects Yakubu Ashadu, also known as Andani, was also busted for possessing a parcel of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, while Tahiru Abdul Wahab had in his possession a Baikal shotgun, two hammers and five machetes.
Three of the suspects, Ibrahim, Ashadu and Joseph Larry (popularly known as Wofa), were handed over to the Bono East Regional Police Command in Techiman, the capital, while the rest were detained at Yeji for further interrogations.

The Bono Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Augustin Kinsley Oppong, who made this known to Adom News Christian Ofori Kumah, said, the special operation team also sent the various exhibits to the Bono East Regional Police Headquarters in Techiman for further action.
He said the suspects found culpable would be prosecuted.

Chief Inspector Oppong called on the general public to support the police and other security agencies to arrest criminals to reduce crime in the country.
He said the special operation was conducted to help reduce crime, especially armed robbery on the Atebubu-Yeji highway.
During his working visit, the chiefs and people in the area made a passionate appeal to the Bono East Regional Minister, Kofi Amoakohene, to beef up security to curb the increasing incidents of armed robbery on the Kintampo-Yeji, Atebubu-Yeji and the Atebubu-Kwame-Danso roads.
