The Black Meteors trained for the first time on Wednesday evening at their Alexandria base in preparation for the U23 African Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The National U23 team switched camp from the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram to Egypt as they step up preparations for the tournament which will be staged from June 24- July 8, 2023.
As part of the pre-tournament preparations, the Black Meteors will face defending African U23 Champions Egypt in a friendly game at the Alexandria Stadium.
The team will also take on an Egyptian Club side in a test game before travelling to Morocco for the tournament.
After years of absence from the Olympic Men's Soccer event, Coach Ibrahim Tanko and his charges are poised to break the jinx and seal a slot to compete in next year's Olympics Games which will be staged in Paris, France.
Twenty-four players took part in Wednesday's session with some players expected to arrive in the coming days.
Ernest Nuamah and Kamaldeen Sulemana who are with the Black Stars will join the Black Meteors camp in Egypt after Sunday's AFCON qualifier between Madagascar vs Ghana.
