Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transforming Ghana’s agribusiness sector through inclusive and sustainable industrial growth, anchored on the 24-hour economy initiative.
The Minister explained that the government’s new policy direction provides a strategic opportunity to drive productivity, job creation, and value addition across the entire agricultural value chain.
“In line with this ambition, the government’s 24-hour economy offers an exciting and complementary strategic opportunity to amplify the transformative change we seek within the agribusiness sector,” Madam Ofosu-Adjare stated on July 28.
She said it at the National Agribusiness Dialogue themed “Resetting Agribusiness for Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Growth."
She explained that enabling round-the-clock operations, especially in agro-processing, logistics, storage, and market access, will enhance sector efficiency, reduce post-harvest losses, and support sustained value addition.
The 24-hour economy policy, she added, aligns with the government’s broader agenda of modernizing Ghana’s industrial landscape and positioning agribusiness as a key pillar of economic growth.
According to the Minister, "these initiatives will not only expand employment opportunities across the entire agriculture value chain, but also ensure that agripreneurs and SMEs are fully integrated into a modern, resilient, and globally competitive economy,” she noted.
