Following widespread public condemnation of the incident, the IGP engaged leadership of the community to assure them of enhanced security as investigations continue.
President of the National Council of Fulani Chiefs, Idrissah Mohammed Bingle has been in meetings with the IGP on this matter.
He said to prevent further retaliation, they have been speaking with their people [Fulanis] to be patient.
“We have done our best to keep heads cool and that’s what we’re continuing to do, and that’s what we’ve been doing ever since,” he said.
Four suspects, who have been arrested are currently in Police custody assisting the investigation, while efforts continue to arrest other accomplices to face justice.
