Global Media Alliance (GMA), an integrated Communications and Entertainment Company, in collaboration with Ghana’s leading telecommunications network, MTN Ghana, the Celebrity Golf Club and the South African High Commission is organising a day’s golf tournament to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of South Africa’s Freedom Day.
The tournament, scheduled to take place on the 29th of April, 2017, at the Celebrity Golf Course in Sakumono, Tema is the fourth in Ghana since its commencement.
The event will see the gathering of competing golfers from Ghana and South Africa.
Over the years, the occasion has offered all participants, both corporate and individuals, the opportunity to interact through fun and leisure in a multicultural environment.
Last year, there was remarkable sportsmanship and funfair when the annual tournament brought together over 150 golfers to display their dexterity and love for the game. With the event gaining popularity and catching on with the South African community in Ghana, over hundreds of golfers together with their family and friends are anticipated to take part in this year’s tournament.
Freedom Day is an annual celebration of South Africa's first non-racial democratic elections of 1994. Peace, unity, the preservation and the restoration of human dignity hallmark Freedom Day celebrations on the 27th of April of each year.
Speaking on the tournament, the Chief Executive Officer of GMA Mr Ernest Boateng, said “we are thrilled that Freedom Day is here with us again. We are excited for this year’s event as Ghana is also in a jubilant mood with the yearlong celebrations of 60 years of Ghana’s Independence.”
“In celebration of our achievements as a people with a shared history, what better way is there then than to celebrate our success than through sports?” he quizzed.
Special Guest of Honour for the event is the South African High Commissioner to Ghana Her Excellency LulamaXingwana.
Other dignitaries will also grace the occasion.
This year’s event is headlined by the South African Telecommunication Giant, MTN Ghana supported by Multichoice, Shoprite, Distell, Afgri Ghana and Swiss Spirit.
