The Chief Executive Officer for Ghana Digital Centers, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang says this year's edition of the Asante Akyem Marathon will be epic and packed with many activities.
The sporting competition which is open to the public is a personal initiative from the former Member of Parliament of Asante Akyem North and former Board Chairman of National Sports Authority, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang.
This year's date, sponsors and packages for the competition are yet to be revealed.

In an interview with Adom News, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang said the rationale behind the marathon competition is to unearth talents for national development.
"Our main aim is to unearth talents for national development. It is called Asante Akyem Marathon but is open for all sportsmen in Ghana who are interested and what we do is that we support and sponsor the winners in many ways for them to become national heroes," he explained.
A two-time winner of the marathon, William Amponsah who won in 2017 and 2022 described the competition as the best grounds for one to shape his career.

"The hills in the marathon, because of where the competition is held, prepare you for any kind of marathon and for the winners, Hon Kwadwo Baah will personally see to it that you are progressing after the competition. I will encourage everyone to partake" he said.
William Amponsah represented Ghana at the 2022 commonwealth games.

Asante Akyem Marathon is a national marathon. Its maiden edition was held in 2017.
