The National Lottery Authority has crowned a 64-year-old farmer, Francis Pwalua as its first jackpot winner of the new game Daywa 5/39. The winner who hails from Navrongo in the Upper East Region placed his lotto with only GH¢2 cedis via the shortcode provided. The lucky draw took place on the 17^th of January this year after it was launched in November 2019. Mr. Pwalua won the ultimate prize with the five selected numbers matching exactly with the five numbers that were drawn at the NLA’s Brennan Hall. This comes as an excitement after the jackpot prize grew from a minimum amount of ¢100,000 over just seven weeks to ¢126,000 during which tens of thousands of Ghanaians tried to win this daily jackpot game. Speaking to JoyBusiness on behalf of his father, Amos Pwalua, the son of Francis Pwalua said, “My friend told me about the game that it is real moreover he won 40 cedis and I said let me also try it maybe I will win something and I’ve been playing it for about one month now and by God’s grace I won so the family is excited about it.” It was a moment of drumming and dancing as the Pwalua family could not hide their excitement. Chief Executive of the National Lottery Authority, Kofi Osei Ameyaw said the occasion is an indication that the lottery is real and contributes to the growth and development of the country.
