About 800 persons in the Sekyere Central district of the Ashanti region have been rendered homeless as fire gutted their homes in two separate incidents.
The fires, one which occurred yesterday and another today, affected two villages of Asasi Bonso and Dome, destroying about 60 homes.
Speaking to Joy News the district NADMO Coordinator, Donkoh Fuseini blamed the bush fires set in farms for the devastation in the village.
“Fire from somebody farms and because of the strong winds that were blowing through the whole district yesterday, before they realise it has spread through the whole village,” he said.
He however lamented inadequate relief items for the displaced persons.
“Unfortunately, NADMO itself doesn’t have enough supply that can take care of the over 700 people now.
“The only thing we can do now is to write to the region and the region also writes to the national for them to come to our aid immediately.
