A forty-five-year-old driver of Akyem Oda, Kwadwo Brako, has committed suicide after knocking down and injuring a little girl at Oda Old Town last Wednesday.
According to a family spokesperson, who wants to remain anonymous, Brako could not bear the incessant pressure from the victim's relatives.
The spokesperson said after the driver had accidentally knocked down the girl, he rushed her to the Oda Government Hospital, where she was admitted for medical treatment.
He said after the accident and Brako had sorted the matter out with the Oda Police, he went to his hometown, Akyem Gyadam, to spend the night.
The spokesperson stated that the next morning, Brako was found to have hanged himself with a rope from a mango tree in the compound of the Gyadam Local Authority Primary School.
He said the deceased's wife, who was resident at Oda and was not was aware that the husband had committed suicide at Gyadam, had visited the victim at the Oda Government Hospital and presented cash and fruits to her.
Oda District Police Commander ASP Mohammed Cantona reported that his outfit is investigating the matter.
