20-year-old man Moro Yakubu is being sought by the Prestea Huni-Valley Police for allegedly beheading his cousin.
Yakubu was said to have been angry with his uncle for failing to secure him a job, and in his absence, decapitated his uncle's nine-year-old son as a form of retribution for the perceived misdeed.
The body of the nine-year-old boy, identified as Bashiru Yakubu, has been deposited at the Wassa Akropong Government Hospital mortuary.
Prestea Huni-Valley District Police Crime Officer ASP Emmanuel Nwinsori reported that Yakubu was brought from northern Ghana to Wassa Abuabo in the Western Region to help his uncle Mamudu Abanga on his cocoa farm.
He said after working on the farm for sometime, Yakubu lost interest in farming and demanded that his uncle secure him a job.
According to ASP Nwinsori, Mr Abanga, who was due to embark on a journey to the northern part of the country, promised to secure him a job as soon as he returned.
He said while his uncle was away in the north, Moro Yakubu engaged in illegal gold mining, also known as galamsey, but accidentally lost two of his fingers to a machine while on the job.
The suspect became very angry, arguing that if his uncle had secured him the job, he would not have engaged in galamsey and lost his fingers.
ASP Nwinsori said his uncle failed to secure him the job even after his return from the north and that in his anger and frustration, Yakubu refused to assist him on his farm.
He explained that on Saturday, February 2, 2013, when his uncle had gone to his farm to harvest cocoa, the suspect pushed his cousin into a room and chopped off his head.
After committing the dastardly act, Yakubu entered his uncle's room, allegedly stole GHc26O and bolted.
The district crime officer said the police have mounted a manhunt for the suspect.
He said the murder of the nine-year-old boy brought the number of murders in the district this year to three.
