President John Dramani Mahama has donated one bull and an undisclosed amount of money to the Northern Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service in appreciation for their good work in maintaining peace and security during and after the 2012 elections.
Alhaji Alhassan Issahaku, Northern Regional Coordinating Director, who donated the President’s gift to the Northern Regional Police Command, said the President acknowledged the good works and professionalism that the police displayed during the elections which was conducted peacefully without any violence.
The President assured them that he would fulfill all his promises made to the security to ensure they conducted their mandate positively for the development and personal security of citizens.
He urged them to carry out their responsibilities professionally to ensure the nation’s democracy was protected and deepened.
President John Mahama, in the message, expressed gratitude that the Northern Region did not experience any violence during the elections saying; “you were on top of your work ...and I appreciate your good work”.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) George Tuffuor, Northern Regional Police Commander, who received the donation, commended the President for his kind gesture.
He assured the President that the police would continue to carry out their duties professionally to ensure the President's vision was realized.
